Dear Andrews community,

We’ve now made it through another semester! Since the summer break has now (unofficially) started, I invite you to make the most of this sunny season by adding these wellness opportunities to your warm-weather agenda.

In A Pickle 5K Race: Join us on Father's Day, Sunday, June 18, for the 2nd Annual In A Pickle 5K on the Andrews University campus! This race is coordinated with the Berrien Springs Pickle Festival and will take you on a scenic journey throughout our University campus. The race will begin at 9 a.m. and please know that walkers are also welcome! Enjoy Dillard the Pickle Guy photo ops, have the opportunity to race against a life-size pickle, and enjoy a post-race pickle snack and a dill-lightful medal for participating. Sign up today! Not interested in racing? You can also sign up to volunteer instead! Participants and volunteers at the Pickle 5K Race will receive a free T-shirt and a wonderful time.

Certified Well Department Applications: Becoming a Certified Well Department (CWD), means you and your colleagues are interested in creating space for health and wellness in your area. Employees of Certified Well Departments will receive wellness enrichment opportunities, annual wellness goodie bags, free chair massages and InBody biometric assessments, access to special sales on personal training and other fee-based services, as well as an exclusive invitation to our annual CWD Fall Luncheon. Ambassadors representing certified departments can also enjoy free lunches at ambassador rallies and are the first to know about wellness updates and opportunities on campus. You can apply here to be a CWD. Is your area or department already a CWD? Your status is good for two school years. When your status is set to expire, your ambassador will be notified.

Andreasen Center for Wellness Updates

Summer Swim Lessons: The Andreasen Center will offer a variety of swim lesson options throughout the summer, including group and private swim lessons, group and private dive lessons, and a basketball/swim week. Programs will run at various times between June 12 and Aug. 17. Please check our website to learn more and to register today!

Summer Family Pool Membership: The Summer Family Pool Membership is back for another season! Families who live together in the same household can enjoy access to the pool and Healing Oasis for $50 per month. This Summer Family Pool Membership is available now through Aug. 31. Families with this membership can also enjoy member rates on swim lessons and have access to the Kid's Self-Defense Class (see complete details below). Request your membership by completing the form here.

Please note that this membership does not include access to the fitness floors. Also, children ages 13 and under are only allowed in the pool area when accompanied by a parent, but will not be allowed in the Healing Oasis. However, youth who are ages 14 and 15 may use the Healing Oasis, but must also be accompanied by a parent.

Kid's Self-Defense Classes: You can help your child learn the skills they need to protect themselves in dangerous situations. Our instructor, Hollis McEachrane, is a self-defense expert with over 60 years of experience. His kid-friendly, Bible-based curriculum will teach children ages 4–13 discipline and respect, along with life-saving skills that they need. Classes will meet once a week for six weeks with assigned age groups. Please note that this is a structured class with limited space, so please do not reserve a spot unless you intend for your child to be present for all classes. This self-defense class is free for ACW members. Children must have an active membership at the Andreasen Center for Wellness to attend.

There are 10 spaces available per class. Registration will be open Monday, May 29, to Friday, June 2. Also, please note that a registration form must be submitted for EACH child attending and must be completed by a parent or legal guardian. Classes will run June 5–12. Sign up here starting May 29.

Class Schedule
Ages 4–6: Mondays, 4–5 p.m. (June 5–July 10)
Ages 7–10: Tuesdays, 4–5 p.m. (June 6–July 11)
Ages 11–13: Wednesdays, 4–5 pm. (June 7–July 12)
