Death of S. Douglas Waterhouse
S. Douglas Waterhouse was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on July 20, 1931. He graduated in 1956 from La Sierra University with a BA in history. He took graduate studies at the Oriental Institute, University of Chicago, in Biblical Hebrew, ancient Near Eastern history, and archaeology.
After that, he continued graduate studies at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Waterhouse majored in ancient Near Eastern languages, literature and culture, and he graduated with a PhD in 1965.
In 1963, Waterhouse began teaching in both the undergraduate History and Religion departments at Andrews University until his retirement from the Religion department in 1996. Waterhouse fell asleep in Jesus on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2023, in Hawaii.
