30 Years of Service: Denis Fortin

For three decades, Denis Fortin has provided leadership and mentorship at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary. His journey from assistant professor to dean to his current tenure as a professor of historical theology reflects not just his academic commitment but also his profound dedication to fostering a vibrant community of faith and scholarly inquiry in the Seminary and beyond.

Denis' wisdom and experience have guided our faculty and students alike. His scholarly publications and leadership roles have significantly advanced our understanding of theology and history, leaving an indelible mark on both our campus and broader academic communities. Of particular note is his editorial work on the Ellen G. White encyclopedia, the annotated edition of “Steps to Christ” and, most recently, his biography of Joseph Butler. Beyond the academic realm, Denis is known for traversing the Camino de Santiago multiple times. Soon, he will extend this commitment as a tour guide, sharing his rich insights and experiences with others on this adventure.

Such enacted and engaged scholarship is genuinely admirable. As we celebrate his 30 years of exceptional service, we recognize the many ways in which Denis embodies the spirit of commitment and intellectual rigor that defines our institution.
