Symphony Orchestra Announces Fall Concert
On Thursday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m.
The Andrews University Symphony Orchestra will be presenting its fall concert, titled “Festive Memories,” on Thursday, Nov. 7, in the Howard Performing Arts Center. Conductor Marc Élysée will be leading the student musicians of the symphony orchestra in what promises to be “an unforgettable evening of music.” The program is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be separated into two parts by a fifteen-minute intermission.
The first half of the concert will feature the composition work of German composers Johannes Brahms and Moritz Moszkowski. The selected pieces will be Brahm’s “Hungarian Dance No. 1” and Moszkowski’s “Piano Concerto No. 2,” with senior music performance student Aiko Ayala as the featured piano soloist. The second half of the concert will be directed by graduate conducting student Earlon Cornwall. He will lead the Andrews symphony orchestra in “Jupiter from the Planets” by English composer Gustav Holst and “Scenes of Jamaica” by accomplished Jamaican composer and Seventh-day Adventist Andrew Marshall.
