Marcia Kilsby, former department chair and Program Director for the Andrews University Program for Medical Laboratory Sciences, is also an Associate Professor with specialty in the areas of immunohematology and transfusion medicine. She joined the faculty in 1984.
Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, Kilsby graduated in 1981 from Andrews University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, after having attended Union College, Lincoln, Nebraska, and Lake Michigan College, Benton Harbor, Michigan. She completed the one-year medical technology program at the South Bend Medical Foundation School of Medical Technology, South Bend, Indiana, in 1983. In 1987, she received a Master of Science in Medical Technology from Andrews University. She completed the one-year Specialist in Blood Banking Program at the Blood Center of Southeastern Wisconsin through Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI in 1998. In 2005 she completed her Doctor of Philosophy degree at Andrews University.
Kilsby is certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology as both a medical technologist and as a specialist in blood banking, MT(ASCP)SBB, and as a clinical laboratory scientist by the National Certifying Agency for Laboratory Personnel, CLS(NCA).
Before coming to Andrews, Kilsby worked as a medical technologist for Pawating Hospital, Niles, Michigan.
She is a member of the American Association of Blood Banks, American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science, American Society for Clinical Pathology, Michigan Association of Laboratory Science Educators, Michigan Society for Clinical Laboratory Science, Phi Kappa Phi, and Pi Lamba Theta.
She serves as an international consultant for clinical laboratory science programs and curriculum development. Kilsby has also served as an accreditation site team leader and self-study reviewer for the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Chicago, Illinois. She is also a former President of the Berrien Springs Community Library Board, Berrien Springs, Michigan.
She is married to Harvey P. Kilsby. They have a married son and four grandchildren.
