IDEAS

Research and experimentation play a key role in understanding how engineers and computer scientists explore ideas to achieve real and meaningful changes in the world around us. Read more to learn what some of the professors and students at Andrews University's Department of Engineering & Computer Science are doing to positively change the world.

The Evacuated Tube Transporter
To keep up with increasing demands for cargo and human transportation, the world clearly needs a much faster way to travel. Information can travel across in the world in a split second—so why can't packages? Better yet, why can't you? Learn more.

The High-flux Isotope Reactor
See how Abdiel Quetz, an Andrews University graduate and recent intern at Oak Ridge National Laboratory brought the solution to the table to keep the reactor and research alive.  Learn more.

The VeinViewer
Only 30% of emergency IVs are successfully started the first time. In these cases, seconds can mean the difference between life and death. The VeinViewer offers the solution. Learn more.

Smart Probes
Today, there is a greater need for data measurement than ever before. Bryan and Tanner have devoted their senior design project to creating wireless smart probes for use in a data measurement network. Learn more.

Biosensors
Diagnosing diseases early and accurately makes treatment much more effective. Biosensor technologies can make this possible. Learn more.

Improving Signal Integrity
Large file sharing is extremely slow. Though it is ideal to send data at 400Gbs per second, ouside of a few research institutions, this is not viable. The main reason is that the materials used to form electrical signal connections absorb all of the signal power. Learn more
