I wish upon a dandelion
I see you everywhere
in fields, cracks in roads,
old and new buildings,
hands of children,
and in all the unwanted places.
You thrive in places
where nothing else blossoms,
and you beautify the most
ugliest, depressed, and pale
places on earth.
The roots that you build
beneath the ground of harshness,
spark a yellowish flower
that can withstand every
obstacle that the world throws at it.
Withering in the sun
the dazzling flower turns into
a white puff of soft fuzz
that makes you want to
cuddle it up next to your cheek.
Day and night you stand
until a strong burst of wind
flutters by and the soft white fuzz
loosens and flies away
into the unknown air.
You fly and fly and fly
until you land on a piece of broken land
where you grow roots
and repeat the process
of beautifying the worst in the world.
I wish upon a dandelion
where I can thrive in the
most ugliest and depressed places
that the world offers.
I wish to plant my roots
into anywhere and anything that I land on
and I wish to put smiles
on the faces of those in hardship.
I wish to wither in the sun
and to turn myself into seeds
that can fly through the air and breeze
and land anywhere they please.
I wish upon you, my dandelion
that I will have the courage and strength
to be like you:
strong roots, blossoming flowers,
everlasting presence, and
flourishing in every landscape.
I wish upon you, to all my dandelions out there.
