Biography
Professor von Maur holds a Master of Architectural Design and Urbanism from the University of Notre Dame (2003), and a Bachelor of Architecture from Andrews University (1999). She has taught courses in all levels from first-year through fifth-year, with a focus in architectural design, hand drawing and graphics, construction materials and technology, as well as teaching summer bridge studios for transfer students and an introductory architecture course for Andrews Academy. Kristin’s professional work includes time in both architecture and construction management firms, with experience on projects ranging from churches, senior housing, government and university campus buildings, to urban design projects.
She has been honored with several teaching awards including the Kaneb Outstanding Graduate TA Award from the University of Notre Dame, various awards from student organizations, and has twice been the recipient of The Augsburger Excellence in Teaching Award from Andrews University.
In addition to her work at Andrews University, Kristin serves as a Berrien Springs Village Council Trustee, and as a member of the Oronoko Township and Village of Berrien Springs Joint Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals.
Kristin and her husband Andrew are raising three children: Luke, Nina and Levi. They direct the Adventurer Club at the Village Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Berrien Springs. Having lived in Washington, Colorado, Maryland and Indiana before moving to Michigan, Kristin now enjoys international travel with her family, has a special love for the US National Parks and the outdoors in general, and is an avid gardener.
