Dr. Ed Schmidt was born and raised in Argentina, and graduated from River Plate University (B.A), and Andrews University (M.Div.). He also holds a D.Min. degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. After completing his MDiv at the SDA Theological Seminary, Dr. Schmidt pastored in New Mexico and Texas for 12 years. In 1993 Dr. Schmidt became an Associate Director of the North American Division Evangelism Institute (NADEI) where he also serves as Assistant Professor of Personal Evangelism at the Theological Seminary at Andrews University.
Besides teaching, Dr. Schmidt finds his greatest joy in working together with church members, as they become ministers of God’s church in the community. Each year he is involved in public evangelism that not only presents the Gospel to hundreds of individuals, but trains seminary students to develop their own evangelistic events. He has been invited to many church and scholarly gatherings in the NAD and abroad to speak on various topics such as equipping and mobilizing for evangelistic ministry, personal evangelism, and pastoral ministries. Dr. Schmidt also serves as a consultant for church revitalization, lay mobilization, church planting, and strategic planning.
For years, Dr. Schmidt has taught ministry and personal evangelism to lay people around the NAD. Recently he has developed the Equipping University that allows conferences or churches to choose individual classes, a certificate program, or create their own certificate program from a variety of the most comprehensive and practical classes ever to be presented directly to local conferences and churches.
Dr. Schmidt and his wife, Sonia, enjoy working together as a ministry team in all their evangelistic and educational endeavors. They have two young adult children – Charles and Vanessa.
Dr. Schmidt is a lead professor in the DMin program for evangelism modules. He teaches for both English-speaking and Spanish-speaking cohorts.
