Creation and Exhibition of "Poetic Licenses"

My Poetic Licenses are of course a play on words, but the actual objects that I create resemble real automobile license plates. They refer to the ubiquitous phenomenon of personalized vanity plates, except that I have joined several together to form statements. Almost all the statements are quotes by or about artists and Art. It is important to note that each plate looks extremely convincing, and the groupings seem to be a collection of actual “found” objects. This project follows as an outgrowth of my creation and very successful record of exhibitions of the “Artist Licenses” from 30 years ago.
