I had the opportunity to present at another conference the week after ARC and the differences were easily apparent. The main thing I appreciated about ARC is that all the researchers had the opportunity to get to know each other outside of the conference setting. Also, we had the opportunity to get to know faculty and staff from Andrews at different moments. And I think that the time spent outside the conference in other activities made the whole difference. Because of most importance is the people, then the research.

I really appreciated the effort that was put into everything: from picking us up at the airport, to the activities, and the food. I thought everything was well organized and I did not expect the conference to be as good and fun…But this conference was more: It was very spirit filled and I got to make some great contacts. Since I had just gotten done with my Junior year, I wasn’t a full time researcher like most of the other participants, so I never connected research to anything spiritual and definitely not to God. I had only conducted research as part of an REU and an assistant and didn’t always like my experiences. For me research was always just science, grad school, and published works. After the Conference, I know that as I deal with more and more research, it all deals with what God has created, and we are all just learning about parts of his creation. I think this is a better mindset for me and it gives me a different perspective when I start grad school and beyond.
