Creating characters can be one of the most fun things to do when writing a book. What color will their hair be? What will their heritage be? There are endless possibilities. But on that same note, there can be some problems with character design. It can get overwhelming at times. Sometimes, it's just annoying when you can't find what you want to represent the character in your mind. We've all been there.
The height of your character can be a key player in your story. Short and adorable, of tall and stoic? Average height? Think about what you want your character's personality to be and match the height accordingly. The average height for males is Five feet and nine-point-five inches. The average height for females is Five feet and four inches
There are many ways to create your characters. If you are into art, you can sketch your characters out. If you're more into writing, you can make a list of character traits for your main characters. A personal favorite method of mine is using a random generator. You can find a random generator for anything. Names, colors, heights, or anything else. It's a good baseline for sculpting a character of your own.
Now, if these charactersitics aren't enough, here is a link to Character generators. It can be very useful in creating situations.

You also need physical characteristics to help your characters shine. Not every character needs to have a specific detail, but it can help keep characters seperate from each other.
