The Mat |
This page may not interest the average, or even good wrestler. This is for wrestlers that have just started learning the craft. Here I will post some video's of some basic moves for kids who need a base to start, or that just want to practice stuff at home.
The first takedown or move I will show you is an excerpt from Randy Couture's book, "Wrestling for Fighting" the move he shows is a double leg takedown and one of the most basic takedowns any wrestler uses. For more takedowns and information visit YouTube and search for wrestling takedowns, or information, as you please.
In this picture you see Randy standing next to his partner. Randy has a rule that he won't shoot in
unless he is within an arms distance.

Now, as you can see in this picture, Randy has dropped to his knee and is starting to extend his hand outward
towards his opponents knee's.
| |
Randy has grabbed the back of his opponents knees and has placed his head on the outside of
his oppenents body, using it for leverage. Notice that his knee is inbetween his opponents.
| |
Randy then pushes off of his foot lifting his one of his opponents legs off the ground.
He also uses his head to push the same way that he is driving.
| |
As Randy drove his opponent to one side, he sweeps the opposite leg towards himself, taking
both of his opponents legs out from under him. He finishes the takedown with his shoulder in his
opponents stomach.
