Kaara Harris is an assistant professor of communication. She comes to Andrews University from Newsday, where she worked as an assistant news editor of digital and print content on the breaking news, features and news desks for eight years. She was selected as a Dow Jones News Fund intern at the Cape Cod Times before joining Newsday.
Before transitioning to journalism, Kaara served with AmeriCorps Public Allies and worked in fundraising at Stanford University.
Kaara has written for Insight magazine, amNewYork and the Atlantic Union Gleaner, as well as recorded and edited interviews for the Coney Island History Project, an oral history archive.
A Brooklyn, New York native, Kaara has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Stanford University and a master’s degree from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY.
