I am deeply touched and incredibly grateful for the generous support I received from Caring Connection following the devastating house fire that my family and I went through earlier this year. During such an overwhelming and uncertain time, their kindness and generosity brought us comfort and hope.
The funds granted has not only helped us begin the process of rebuilding our home and our lives but also reminded us of the power of community and the profound impact of compassion. My family and I feel truly blessed to be living in the Andrews community surrounded by people and groups like this, who step up in times of need to make a difference.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the support of Caring Connection. It means more than words can express.

My family is so thankful for Andrews University’s Caring Connection. This last summer our family was truly struggling with many financial issues. Our eldest son needed to have oral surgery. The doctor asked for a deposit before scheduling the surgery. It was much more than we could afford. We didn’t have the money, but with the help and support of Caring Connection, a few months ago our son had his surgery! Praise the Lord!
I really encourage you to donate through this wonderful ministry as it is a way we can actively and truly support each other during difficult times!

In life, unexpected challenges can often lead to pivotal moments where support from others becomes crucial. For me, that moment arrived unexpectedly when a medical issue I had been putting off suddenly escalated, landing me in the hospital and facing a procedure I couldn't afford.
Several years ago, I had been informed of the need for a medical procedure that was not covered by my insurance. Daunted by the costs, I delayed seeking treatment, hoping for the best. However, fate had a different plan. During a recent hospitalization, I learned that waiting even one more day could have cost me my life.
After spending two and a half days in the hospital, it became clear that the procedure I had postponed was now unavoidable. Despite not having the financial means to cover it, I remember contributing to Caring Connection over the past seven years. This group, dedicated to assisting employees, suddenly seemed like my lifeline. With a sense of hope, I reached out to Caring Connection. To my immense relief, they responded swiftly and generously, providing a substantial portion of the funds needed for my procedure. Within days, I was able to schedule the treatment that ultimately restored my health and allowed me to return to work feeling better than I had in years.
Reflecting on my experience, I am deeply grateful to Caring Connection and all who support their mission. Their assistance not only saved my life but also restored my faith in the power of community and compassion. This episode has reinforced for me the importance of groups like Caring Connection, which provide invaluable support to individuals during their most vulnerable moments.
As I continue my journey to recovery, I am inspired to share my story in the hope that it encourages others to contribute to causes that make a tangible difference in people's lives. Together, we can ensure that more individuals receive the support they need to overcome challenges and thrive.
If you have a similar story to share or wish to learn more about organizations like Caring Connection, I invite you to join me in advocating for greater awareness and support for these vital resources. “My family deeply appreciates your compassion and assistance towards us in such a moment of mourning loved ones. We lost two close family members within two weeks and struggled to cover funeral expenses. We will never forget this gesture of compassion and kindness. My family and I will commit to doing the same for others going through moments of desperation and sorrows.”

"I would like to thank you for the help you provide in moments of need. I was informed that a close friend of mine tested positive for covid, and it was my responsibility to inform Andrews University of my close contact with this person. Immediately I was put on quarantine for 14 days. I was worried not being able to achieve my 40 hours per week. I didn't have enough sick days accumulated. My fears were confirmed of not having enough money to pay my monthly bills. At that moment, I applied to Andrews Caring Connection team, an organization which helps Andrews employees, for help to pay one of my bills, the electricity, the most expensive one. They promptly discussed and gave me the help I needed. That was a relief for me and my family who also were keeping the quarantine."

"I would like to send my personal thanks to the Caring team for thinking about us here in ITS as we move through this transition. It meant a lot to me that others have showed empathy and compassion to not just me but my team as well."
“Recently I was very sick and had to have unexpected surgery. I would be off work for 30 days. I had used up most of my vacation time and had very little long-term sick time, definitely not enough for 30 days. After speaking with Benefits, I learned of the Caring Connection Fund that helped employees in need…. I submitted a copy of my monthly expenses. My rent was the largest of the 4 bills that I submitted. I asked that if nothing else could be paid, could my rent be paid. I tell you, God does answer prayer. The committee met, and they agreed to pay our rent for the month. I was already under a great deal of stress, and not having to be concerned about how the rent would be paid was such a relief that I was able to focus on my health. What a blessing the Caring Connection Fund is, it helped keep my family and I to stay afloat during that difficult time. I implore all who can to donate to this fund. It will not only help other employees in need, it may even help you one day.”
"The employees of Andrews University have a wonderful program they can utilize for their time of need. In order to continue assisting, more employees are needed to contribute. The committee would like to give to the needs which are requested, but without donations from employees, they are limited in their ability to help. One dollar from each employee can help the Caring Connection program in assisting you in your time of need. I personally can attest to the assistance and how this program is a blessing! Please give what you can to help this program help you!”

During the summer of 2020, many employees were furloughed because of the pandemic. In response, the Caring Connection Committee gave baskets to furloughed colleagues in order to express solidarity during the difficult time. Images from this outdoor event:
Thank you for your donations that made this possible!
