Certified Family Life Educator

Family Life Education is the professional practice of equipping and empowering family members to develop knowledge and skills that enhance well-being and strengthen

interpersonal relationships through an educational, preventive, and strengths-based approach. The goal of Family Life Education (FLE) is to teach these skill and knowledge areas to family members across the lifespan, and foster positive individual and family development so families can function optimally. Family Life Educators empower families themselves to apply knowledge about healthy family functioning to prevent or minimize problems.

The National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) provides the Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE) credential, which is recognized in the U.S. and Canada for Family Life Education professions. If they complete all NCFR required courses, students from the following degrees may qualify to apply to be a Certified Family Life:

MA Discipleship in Lifespan Education (Family Life Education concentration)

Masters in Divinity (Marriage and Family Life Ministry Concentration)

Doctor of Ministry 

PhD Discipleship in Lifespan Education (Customized- Family Life Education)
