I am
a native of Austria and have always enjoyed getting
to know other cultures. My first experience with other
cultures was in my home. I grew up with an Austrian
father and a German-Romanian mother and grand-mother.
So while I spoke Viennese dialect with my friends,
at home I listened to the Schwabish dialect or spoke
high German.
Later I
went for a summer to Switzerland to work in the gardens
of a private hospital (La Lignere) near Geneva and
boost my French language studies in highschool. Eventually
I went to France to complete my BA. The school is
situated in France near the magnificent mountain called
the Saleve, overlooking the beautiful city of Geneva.
English
is actually my third language, but it has become the
language of my profession. So if you wonder about
my accent you now know the secret: it is Austrian.
I am married
with Sylvie and have three sons and three daughters.
So if you
want to have fun with me, better put on your hiking
boots, because I do a lot of my creative thinking
and reflecting while hiking. I also enjoy the arts,
watercolor, gardening and I read passionately. But
you may actually have a hard time catching me at home
because I travel quite a bit. Working for the leadership
department means that I visit regional groups or teach
in an off-campus setting. But you can always reach
me by email. And if you invite me to your Regional
Group, let's have time for at least one walk in your
city or at your meeting place, or better yet, let's
take time to go into the mountains in your neighborhood.
