On-campus Employment

International students in a student visa status can work on the Andrews University campus in the following capacity:

  • Up to 20 hours per week while taking classes
  • Up to 29 hours per week during school breaks (first year of study)
  • Up to 40 hours per week during school breaks (after first year of study)

Beyond these work-hour parameters, there is no additional permission or authorization needed to work on campus for an international student in a student visa status.

International students in a student visa status cannot work off campus unless they are authorized to do so. The two main categories of off-campus employment authorization are Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT).
