Michigan Maritime Museum Boat Walk

Community Announcements | Posted on August 2, 2017

You’ve heard of cottage walks and garden walks, but now is your chance to participate in a boat walk! The Michigan Maritime Museum will be hosting their 4th annual Boat Walk August 19th from 12pm-4pm. Similar to the types of walks with which you are already familiar, the Boat Walk allows you to explore privately owned vessels of different types and styles inside and out. “We’re very excited to be in our fourth year for our Boat Walk fundraiser,” says Patti Montgomery Reinert, the Museum’s Executive Director.  “There are just so many stunning boats in our harbor and we’re glad that the owners want to open them to the public.” Your ticket gets you aboard all participating vessels to meet the owners/captains, ask questions, and just enjoy each of these beautiful boats in South Haven’s Maritime District. Visitors check in at the Museum for a program and map and can visit participating boats at their leisure during the 4-hour walk. Once finished, walkers are welcomed back to the Museum to explore Museum exhibits, including new exhibit Lake Michigan’s Call to Duty, all about the role Lake Michigan played during WWII. Tickets to the walk include 10-15 boats and Museum admission. The cost for the Boat Walk is $15 per person (ages 13 and up) and can be purchased at the event or in advance at the Museum’s Ship’s Store, through the Museum website, at the South Haven Visitor’s Bureau, and the South Haven Chamber of Commerce.
