This Giving Day, we are rallying support for replacing the telescope mount in Kingman Observatory. Our goal is to raise $10,000 toward its purchase.
For more than fifty years, our campus observatory has been a place where students and the community can experience the night sky. The building was replaced in 2016, and at the time the 14” Celestron telescope and German equatorial mount were in good condition.
The mount has not been working well for the last couple of years, and we have recently concluded that it needs to be replaced. We want Kingman Observatory to continue to be a place in which the Department of Physics can continue serving our AU community as well as the general public.
