Perceived Faculty Barriers for the Use Active Learning Methods for Planning, Delivery, and Assessment of Learning.
Abstract: There has been a growing awareness in higher education of the importance of using active learning methods in the classroom, yet faculty find consistent implementation of active learning methods difficult to maintain, or fail to understand the methodologies involved in redesigning a course for active learning. Through this study, we hope to find out how professional development programs can use their resources more wisely by finding from faculty what motivates participation in their programming. This research project has the potential of adding another dimension to our growing research agenda on how Centers for Teaching and Learning in institutions like Andrews University may thrive with limited resources.
