The sun is the yellow dwarf star at the center of our universe. It is a hot ball of glowing gases including mostly hydrogen and helium with hydrogen making up about 70% of the gases in the sun and helium making up about 28% of the gases in the sun. 1.5% of the gases in the sun are made up by carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen. The remaining 0.5% of the gases in the sun are made up of elements such as neon, iron, magnesium, and sulfur. The glow of the sun comes from the nuclear fusion that occurs in the core of the sun. In this nuclear fusion, hydrogen is being turned in helium. As a result of this conversion process, the amount of hydrogen in the sun is decreasing and the amount of helium in the sun is increasing. Heat and light are a result of this nuclear fusion and sent in all directions into the solar system. The sun holds the solar system together with its immense gravitational pull that attracts all of the planets, moons, asteroids, comets and any other particle that is in the solar system.
