Venus is the second closest planet to the Sun. It is also the closest planet to Earth. From Earth, Venus is the brightest planet in the sky. Venus is surrounded by clouds so it’s hard to see it surface from Earth. Through space missions, the surface of Venus is covered by craters, volcanoes, mountains and lava plains. The atmosphere on Venus mainly consists of carbon dioxide, but is also partially made up of with sulfuric acid clouds causing the air to smell like rotten eggs. This also means that we wouldn’t be able to breathe the air on Venus. Venus is also the hottest planet in the solar system with temperatures hot enough to melt lead.
