Uranus is the seventh planet from the Sun. Uranus is a very cold and windy ice giant. Uranus has 13 faint rings surrounding it. It also has 27 moons. Uranus rotates around its axis at an almost 90-degree angle. This means that the planet rotates almost completely sideways compared to all the other planets. The angle of this tilt may have been caused by a collision with an Earth-sized object a long time ago. The tilt also caused very extreme seasons on Uranus. Uranus and Venus are the only two planet in the solar system that rotate from east to west around the sun. Uranus is the second least dense planet in the solar system. Uranus is mostly made up of a dense fluid of water, methane, and ammonia. The blueish color of Uranus comes from the methane in the atmosphere. Uranus’ surface is mostly just swirling fluids. The atmosphere of Uranus also has extreme pressures and temperatures. This means it would be almost impossible to launch a spacecraft to Uranus. Life on Uranus would also probably be impossible because of the extreme pressures and temperatures (NASA).
